Folk hero UTAH PHILLIPS has died of congestive heart failure, aged 73.
The singer, dubbed the Golden Voice of the Great Southwest, was the man behind folk anthem Moose Turd Pie.
Phillips collaborated with Ani DiFranco on two albums and also ran for U.S. Senate in 1968.
He also recorded an anti-Gulf War protest album in 1991 and, according to RollingStone.com, he started a folk music radio show and helped start a homeless shelter in Nevada City, California.
